Site Review: Bloomingdale’s

I received an email the other day announcing the redesign of bloomingdales.com, so I figured I would give the new site a little review.

The main image is either rotating or it has changed already. It now shows a lot of shoes, which they are selling. The photo of the woman IS a little peculiar tho.

The nav doesn’t bother me as much as it does you, although the complete lack of color is a strange choice. The black and white + gray doesn’t really seem elegant to me; it seems pretty harsh. Couple that with the obviously necessary color in the actual body of the site, and it’s kinda a weird juxtaposition. I think the black and white would be ok if they used some sort of blue/red/pastel-y anything for the highlights instead of the gray.

You’re right tho, it’s nothing innovative… just an e-commerce site.
